In a similar vein to my clay sculpture, this woodblock piece focused on the imagery of the metal bars. Here abstraction is almost fully reached by breaking them down into basic linear forms, curvilinear softness lost everywhere but the diagonal slant, originally rounded forms become tiers of wood. For future reference, I would be more conscious when creating my design of the materials and tools needed, ad plan accordingly. In this piece the precise, thin strips of wood were too thin to be cut into an ideal shape, the edges becoming jagged even after sanding them down. Similarly, some of the divots in the design were hard to reach and cut out even with a bandsaw, though this may also be a problem solved with experience and further exploration into creating wooden sculptures.
