after making a digital pattern from my ammonite drawings, I wanted to bring them into a different medium and onto a larger scale - contextualisation - as I had thought one of the many ways I could utilise the print was as wallpaper. I chose to translate it onto a large scale though linocut, it would allow me to repeatedly print the same design and alter the colour if I wanted to do so. I based the red and black alternating pattern off of my brittle star colour palette, and the 4 different ammonites in my design, a checkerboard alternation allowing each form to stand out geometrically.
