The colour swatches I created more often featured pastels, as I found that getting a flat, smooth colour is easier when white paint is added, it becomes less streaky. Many of my artistic influences centre around the use of brighter colours, although perhaps in a more naturalistic way (e.g. Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, Georgia O'Keeffe).
When contextualizing the colour palettes I moved in the direction of textiles and patterns, creating a tartan print from my colour samples, to be applied to clothes or furniture, or any other feasible placement for it. The end result was cohesive and reminiscent of tartan, however, when mixing paint for similar designs in the future it would work better if the gradations of tone came from the same base colour, at least if many tones will be present, as using a cool blue and then a warm blue as a base tone for different shades results in the pattern being less cohesive and more 'random', with some colours looking out of place (though this may be the intended effect).
