Imagery previously used in my works, more specifically from my prints, appears in my clay tile sculpture, albeit in a new, developed form. The geometric lines, more formulated and rigid, have been softened by the medium and handcrafted nature (as opposed to digital). Perhaps this more natural feel is what leads the sculpture to form an abstract sort of bones, reminiscent of the human ribcage. The clay was effective in bringing previous explorations and ideas into a 3D medium, with the addition of texture and levels into the originally photographic source. Whilst perhaps time-consuming and more difficult to use on a larger scale, it was useful to familiarize myself with more tactile elements and different surfaces. Clay could be used to further investigate future works and bring a variety of elements into my ideas.
